    Abstract: 這是呂炳川教授當時訪問苗栗縣南庄鄉東河村一位賽夏族人所拍的照片。這一位賽夏族人的家屋還是以傳統的竹子所建築而成，在家屋前面還有個石磨。賽夏族人的聚落較小，通常只有二、三家為一聚落，築屋材料以竹、木、藤為主，建於山腹坡地或小台地上。在照片中有呂炳川教授，最左邊的那一位則是呂炳川教授的同學藤本先生。
