    Abstract: 這是呂炳川教授當時在卑南族利嘉部落所拍攝到的一個村景。雖然檳榔在卑南族文化當中有非常廣泛的用途可是在照片當中也可以顯示出來當時在卑南族部落也開始種植了椰子樹。卑南族位於中央山脈以東，卑南溪以南的海岸地區，台東縱谷南方的平原上。卑南族分佈於台東縣卑南鄉，共分為八個社，包括知本村、建和村、利嘉村、泰安村、檳榔村、美農村、初鹿村、南王村、溫泉村。昔稱「八社番」。
