    Abstract: 照片當中這位泰雅族婦女臉上的紋面斜度比較大，顯現出她可能來自於不同的部落或社群。泰雅族紋面的不同形式除了部落和社群因素之外，也會因為負責紋面的巫師的不同而有所不同。基本上女孩子一定是紋在額上跟臉頰，可是形式、寬窄和角度會因部落的不同而不同。泰雅族人認為紋面失敗，是紋面者在刺紋前曾經觸犯過禁忌，泰雅族語稱為「Gaga」、「Gaya」或「Waya」，特別是被嚴格禁止的婚前性行為，所以紋面也是早期泰雅族婦女貞操的表徵。
