This study aims to explore (1) how “Lumbei Firing” forms, a ceramic village of eight potters, who started from pottery studios and have been committed as a career and on a mission as well, and (2) how “Lumbei Firing” gradually has an influence on the local culture, community aesthetics and education by the brewing of pottery art. Pottery, an amazing artistic creation, represents not only personal feelings and philosophies of potters but also local cultures and industry, thus lighting up in beautiful touching colors with gradually developed local identification, uniqueness and innovation. Through interviews and field observations in qualitative research, it’s found that having taken roots in the local area, these potters have been quietly working hard in the dirt for the past twenty years. In addition, they have to face the biting cold northeast monsoon in winter and endure the high temperature of kilns in summer, to pursue the beauty of purity and simplicity and to make their art works reveal the spirits of earthiness and fire. In addition to art creation, the eight potters, with both aesthetics qualities and a sense of mission, have dedicated themselves to community transformation and local historical and cultural work, to make ceramic beauty shape into their local culture : They help shape the local color and obtain reciprocal influences from it, both bringing out the stunning pottery industry and local aesthetics and making “Lumbei Firing” have the true taste of the Lumbei people.
