    Abstract:   資訊科技往往被賦予增進學習成效的期待,在兒童美語學習亦是如此,特別在課後的學習強調自動自發,若能以較有趣的方法引起孩童自發性學習的興趣,讓他在學習過程中除了汲取知識的養分,並透過多媒體的互動模式及網際網路的線上學習模式,定可大幅提昇趣味性與挑戰性,並能輕易突破時空的限制,提供了學習者更多的選擇及更多的空間,使知識的獲得及傳達模式也因此變得更加彈性多元。透過多媒體也能讓兒童在以遊戲的輕鬆心情學習,達到「寓教於樂」的理想境界。   本研究主要以媒體豐富度觀點來探索某全國加盟連鎖體系之多媒體互動光碟,以詮釋現象學方法進行研究,並以敘述訪談方式針對使用互動式光碟的家長進行資料收集,並提出多媒體除了聲光、影音、圖像外,內容設計上須與孩子生活中的情境脈絡、生活經驗需要有相當程度的連結,特別是作為學習的媒體,因此需要挹注生命延伸的元素及內容設計需符合孩子跳選式學習的模式。
      This research, using the concept of media richness, examines the usage of an IT-based multimedia CD that issued by a Chain of Children’ English Language School in Taiwan for children’s English learning at home. The findings indicated that, although this multimedia interactive CD has been designed according to the core concept of media richness, the English as second language in conjunction with the children’s interactive learning style limited the effectiveness of the use of this IT-based multimedia CD. This reserch raises a broader wuestion about the the IT-based multimedia CD design beyond the media richness perspective.
