In this study, we combine the Chi-Kwan Chen’s ink painting skills with game teaching in the classes, to see if we can increase students’ interests to learn it and also develop a proper way to apply in the teaching for the elementary ink painting classes. First, we collect the related literature about Chi-Kwan Chen’s paintings and conclude the ink painting skills he adopted. Second, we adjust his skills into the level which is proper for the elementary students and develop a teaching plan which fits the third grade students. Third, we use the “Action Research” method, applying the teaching plan to the third grade art and social science classes at Lan Tan elementary school in Chiayi city. We analyze the learning effect from these third grade students and try to figure out do the students get inspired after we adopt the new teaching plan. During the process of observing, recording, collecting and analyzing the data, we get the results as follows:1.Chi-Kwan Chen’s modern ink painting skills are suitable for the third grade students to learn. However, teachers should simplify the skills to make it easier for students. Furthermore, we can combine his skills with other painting skills to bring the ink paintings a new face, also make the development of ink paintings more diversified.2.The way in teaching students and the topics for them to draw should close to their lives. For example, we can localize the teaching materials based on the school characteristics. Since the students are familiar with the topics, it would be easier for them to think and present. Through the ways of the ink painting game and media experience, we can not only increase the students’ interests but also their creativity.3.By using the group teaching, students will have more confidence when learning and creating together with their group members. We pick the more talented students to be the leaders and make them be familiar with the ink painting skills first. Therefore, they can help the others to get used to the skills faster after the teaching. This will help the students lower the difficulty when creating their work and reach better learning effect.4.By exhibiting the students work. This may also deepen their impression about learning the ink painting skills and strengthen their confidence. In addition, through the process of appreciating other students’ work will also increase their aesthetic experience and improve their ability in art appreciating.
