The School building is an artificial environment to promote education, and provide the space for teaching activities. Therefore, the discourses of school building and the expressions of spatial form should relate to both educational and architectural aspects. The planning and design of the school building inevitably should start from the interpretation of educational discourses, realisation of educational concepts and teaching methology, and satisfication of psychological activities by architectural signs which impose meanings to the school space. The building reconstruction program (New Campus Movement) and educational reform program (Nine Year Joint Curriculum Plan) have been implemented well. To review and evaluate their implementing results, the research employs the method of Post-Occupancy Evaluation. Without traditional investigation and evaluation of building's hardware efficiency, the research takes individual school's specific characteristics and particular conditions as evaluating elements, emphysizing the requirement of teaching space under the instruction of Nine Year Joint Curriculum Plan, as well as the evaluation of the usage satisfication on the campus space under Open Education Program. Taking user's viewpoint as start point, the research uses "the space and equipment for New Campus Movement" and "the activities for Nine Year Joint Curriculum Plan" as background for a "Self-Evaluation List of Overall Campus Planning" to select a designated school, as well as a "Statistic List for Usage Efficiency on Space and Equipment" to select nineteen spaces to evaluated. Following this method, three simple questionnaires are developed. A specific investigation is designed for third, fourth, and fifth grade students, as well as school's employees in terms of their usage conditions of spaces. Later the questionnaires are analyzed by SPSS and processed by EXCEL, the results are presented by Numbers of percentage. After analyzing the questionnaires, the interviews with space-users are conducted, thus finding out possible different perceptions between users and designers. The final conclusions could provide SiangHe elementary school campus improving advices and useful data for building future ideal teaching spaces. Furthermore the research could provide valuable information for newly-erected schools with similar background to avoid unnecessary expenses and pitfalls.
