| 摘要: | 目前台灣諸多的深具本土特色的表演文化現象中，霹靂布袋戲應當算是最為人知，源自於閩南的傳統布袋戲中除深具傳統戲劇性格，歷經幾次型態與風格上的轉變。隨著生產面與媒介技術合流，由過去民俗表演文化轉變成大眾文化變為一種文化商品。因此本文探討霹靂布袋戲風行的時代背景，從生產面角度探討與傳統布袋戲的差異。由霹靂布袋戲發展歷程之解析顯示： 不論布袋戲的表演或是事業的經營，科技與社會條件的影響對於布袋戲的發展是很明顯的；其中，科技在其中扮演的角色不僅僅是配合條件，也是霹靂布袋戲最主要的表演內容，或者是結合於內容的成份；此外，還反映一個趨勢性的現象：出版與其他文化產業各領域的交織融合。無論是在學術研究抑或是實務發展上就都饒富深意，因此，本文也對其加以引申。 本案例衍生一個值得探究的問題：霹靂布袋戲是否屬不屬於「出版」的範疇？而這一方面涉及特定時期的認定標準，同時也是定義的問題。本文雖已對此提出一些解析及見解，但這仍然是值得進一步探討的。 而本研究案例也同時反映文化產業的另一項意義，出版與其他的文化產業在定義界限越來越模糊。這種態勢固然是出版之新的發展契機，卻也有認同上、意涵上的危機。這種現象蘊含著相當吊詭的意義：具象出版或是實務性操作性的出版之邊緣化、工具化，與核心素質及更高層次概念的出版意義之豐富化與包涵性。 綜合此兩方面的探索，我們覺得不僅出版研究需要新視野，我們也需要漸次發展新的出版理論。因為，出版隨著社會及科技條件而產生不同的意義、形式及結構。
