Abstract:	本文探討村落型風獅爺的信仰功能及造形兩方面與聚落之間的連結。首先從超自然信仰與風水的傳統思維，來瞭解如何使居民的生存境遇與居住環境形成因果關係，進而使風獅爺辟邪物與居民的心理需求、聚落空間之間產生功能聯繫。另外，從風獅爺的造形呈現精簡的差異及材質區域化的現象，探討這些現象的產生與聚落的規模及經濟發展、信仰忌諱、聚落所在區域的資源條件的關聯性。再者，將晚近出現的觀賞型風獅爺與村落型風獅爺相比較，凸顯脫離聚落空間的風獅爺形式，不再存在與聚落之間傳統功能上的連結。最後，分析在近代聚落環境的改善、空間變遷、戰爭破壞、教育普及化及人口外移的影響之下，風獅爺的信仰情形。
