This paper explores the relationship between financial development and economic growth by following Odedokun's theoretical framework of economic growth. Annul data observations over the period from 1961 to 2001 in Taiwan are examined using cointegration analysis and error correction model. Empirical results demonstrate that the influence of financial development on economic growth is not significant in the short run but significant in the long run.
