Abstract:	本文所採取的學術進路，乃是以菩提達摩的禪學思想作為研究中心，旨在從事將菩提達摩禪學的主要觀念及實踐方法作一完整之分析，置諸於「壁觀」禪法的問題思維脈絡下，探論其中義蘊的研究工作，做為檢視菩提達摩禪學的確實內容與意義。此外，除了針對達摩本身之禪學思想作研究外，同時，亦兼論達摩禪學在禪宗發展史上的分位及影響，以及達摩禪學與「禪宗大意」二者之關聯。而本文希望藉由菩提達摩「壁觀」禪法的挺出，充實在這個領域之不足。
