「數位電視」為近年引人注意的課題,有線電視業者極力推廣數位機上盒,甚至網路上也可以收看電視,而台灣的無線數位電視也於2004年7月1日正式開播,這一切都宣告了電視正邁向了一個數位時代。電視為現代社會重要的的媒介之一,數位電視不只改變電視產業的訊號傳送和製播方式等,也將影響人們的生活方式。 本研究探討報紙中的數位電視報導,所建構的資訊樣貌及「數位化」的意義,並且主要以科技意識型態、法蘭克福學派學者的意識型態批判性觀點來看待這樣的圖像。本研究收集中國時報、工商時報、聯合報及經濟日報四份報紙的數位電視報導,共計12年4個月的研究資料時間,然後借助量化內容分析和質化符號學的意識形態批判兩研究途徑進行資料分析。 研究發現報導的重心圍繞在數位電視產業的消息及國外發展,報導也隱含「資訊戰」的觀念,此「資訊戰」非軍事上的戰爭,而是國家間競爭科技領先和科技產品的占有率等。同時,數位電視的報導與資訊社會的樂觀觀點是很相近的,強調人類的生活可以因此改變,呈現出美好的一面,而且電視的數位化也是無庸置疑的。 The "Digital Television" is one of the noticed issues in recent years. Cable TV operators make every effort to promote Set-top converter box, and TV programs are available on Internet as well. The wireless digital TV has also started to transmit formally since July 1st 2004 in Taiwan, and these claim that the television has ushered in a digital era. The television is one of the most important medium in modern society. The Digital TV not only changes the signal transmission and program production of the television industry, but also influences people's life style. This research explored the information appearance and "digital" meaning constructed by the DTV coverage in newspaper. Critical standpoints of Frankfurt School and of science ideology were mainly used. The researcher collected related reports in the China Times, the Commercial Times, the United Daily News and the Economic Daily News, and the period of all coverage added up to 12 years and 4 months. Quantitative content analysis and qualitative semiotics analysis were used to analyze all data. The results revealed that the focus of these reports lied in digital TV industry news and foreign developments, and also implied the idea of "information war", which means scientific and technical competition among nations rather than military war. At the same time, the standpoint of these reports was similar to the optimistic standpoint of the Information Society, which emphasized that people’s life will improve and there’s no doubt about digitization of the television.
