劉述先先生在1998 年曾說:「預料在將來發展出儒家式的心理治療技巧應指日可待,不會是太長遠的事情了。」當代新儒學發展到現在,已有許多成績,在這些成績上面,該如何繼續發展光大?本文立基於近年非常熱門的「正念療法」上,試圖從傳統儒學中,發展儒家正念學之可能,對象的選擇上以集宋明理學之大成的劉蕺山思想為主。在劉蕺山的思想中,吸收正念學中的Kabat-Zinn「葡萄乾禪」(或Mark Williams 的「巧克力禪」)、身體覺知、正念瑜珈(伸展)……乃至慈心禪等八週訓練課程,可以提供儒家型的關於正念之身心修練方法,讓道在日用倫常中呈現,使儒學「生命的學問」落實至日常生活之中,活化生活儒學。 In 1998, Mr Liú, Shù-Xiān said, "The development of Confucian psychotherapy in the future is expected to be just around the corner.
