The electronic learning (e-learning) systems are recommended in modern education environments because it brings about a student-centered learning paradigm. Thus the success of e-learning systems fundamentally depends on its continued utility for learners rather than for teachers. Understanding the causalities of learners with regard to e-learning systems will benefit the e-learning application. Based on an popular continuance model of information system(IS), this study explored the mediator and moderator roles of college students' causalities on their continuance of e-learning systems. After analyzing the surveyed data, causal attributions of learners were demonstrated to have both mediator and moderator roles that affect the learners' continuance of e-learning systems. The results of this study could be used to explain the discontinuance of e-learning systems and to extend the development of IS continuance model.
