近來關於資訊管理學域研究議題的調查顯示,不論在研究問題的多樣性或者是發展趨勢上,國內的研究皆與國外相近。然而,在研究方法的發展上,國外資管學界已由早期受實證主義(Positivism)所支配的單一典範多樣性,演化為多元(Pluralism)研究典範的多樣性。研究問題往往影響研究方法的選擇,目前國內資管研究議題的多樣化進展,是否也同時影響研究方法典範朝多元的方向發展?此一議題正關係到國內資訊管理學域的研究,是否能更緊密地與國際潮流產生連結。本研究透過對國內三大主要資管期刊以及資管所博士論文的內容分析,發現國內資管研究在研究方法的使用上,仍侷限於以自然科學為基底的實證主義研究典範,而非多元研究典範的多樣性,這種獨尊單一研究典範的情況顯然與國際潮流脫節,本研究則進一步剖析其原因並作出建議。 Over the past decade, the international information systems (IS) discipline has experienced essential change in the diversity of the research methods. Positivism is no longer the dominant research paradigm. The recent research shows no significant difference is found between Taiwanese and international IS research topics. Has the IS discipline in Taiwan followed the international trend in research methods as the research topics? In this paper, we examined 403 information systems research articles published from 1988 to 2005 in three major domestic IS journals and 159 domestic IS doctoral dissertations. The results indicate much IS research in Taiwan reflects a positivistic orientation, a research tradition that is rooted in the natural sciences. Reasons for the dominance of positivism are discussed, and it is suggested that much can be gained for the domestic IS discipline if a plurality of research paradigms is effectively employed to investigate IS phenomena.
