星雲大師所著之《玉琳國師》傳記,敘清順治皇帝之國師玉琳通琇一生的行誼,特別是接受佛法諸種因緣考驗後,證得出一位出家者應有的修養歷練。大師此一著作於1953 年初首刊於《人生》雜誌,並連載一年六個月後,於1954 年正式以小說著作形式出版。出版後廣受好評,後被搬演成影視戲劇、舞台劇而流行不墜。時至今日,作為一本已刊行七十年的佛教小說,到了二十一世紀仍不斷被搬演成各類戲劇作品,可知其傳播魅力不減。到底此一著作小說敘事特點為何?為何能吸引廣大觀眾一讀再讀,且如今改編此一故事的戲劇編劇者,又能以什麼樣的角度來為此小說作二度詮釋?因此,本文針對大師此一著作先進行文本論述,並以2012 年尚和歌仔戲《玉琳國師》(撼動版)改編為例,敘述從小說到戲曲舞台劇兩者如何連結與改編,達成視聽閱讀的雙重效益。 Master Xing Yun wrote a biography of “Yu Lin Guo Shi”. The content of this book refers to the story of a Buddhist master named Yu Lin in the Shunzhi emperor of the Qing Dynasty. In particular, after accepting the various karma tests of the Dharma, it shows the cultivation experience of a monk. This publication was first published in Life magazine in 1953, and was published in a novel in 1954 after being serialized for one year and six months. The book was highly evaluated after its publication and was later produced into a film and television drama and a stage play. This study wants to understand the narrative features of the novel and how does the playwright rewrite the story? Therefore, this study is based on the 2012 SunHope Taiwanese Opera Troupe "Yu Lin Guo Shi" (incited version) as an example to do this research.
