Master XingYun highly affirms the historical value of the “Liù Zǔ Tán Jīng”, and believes that “other than Buddhist scriptures, the only Buddhist works in the past that have been honored by the world is the“ Liù Zǔ FǎBǎo Tán Jīng” that has been chanted for thousands of years.”The “Liù Zǔ Tán Jīng”was explained with the idea of “Humanistic Buddhism”and became the book“Speech on the Liù Zǔ Tán Jīng”, which provides a way for believers and readers to understand Zen and learn practice. This dissertation uses “Speech on the Liù Zǔ Tán Jīng” as the text to study the teaching style and interpretation characteristics of Master HsingYun. First, I will sort out Master HsingYun's views on the author and edition of the “Liù Zǔ Tán Jīng”and other literature issues, as well as the content and structure of the book as the basis for discussion. Then discuss the classic interpretation method of “Speech on the Liù Zǔ Tán Jīng”, which is an interpretation approach based on literature research with practice and practice as the core. Because Master HsingYun's focus on the“Liù Zǔ Tán Jīng”has always been around teaching learners how to practice, in order to attract listeners of different roots, they can confirm the Dharma and be used both physically and mentally. Therefore, his lectures attach great importance to skillfulness and convenience, and often use koans and stories to explain the method; he is closely integrated with the life experience of modern people everywhere, and uses a large number of modern and daily language to express. Emphasize that Zen is in the human world, Zen is life, and value the social nature of the human world. This is a teaching style that shows the characteristics of “Humanistic Buddhism”.
