The ballads of the indigenous people in Taiwan have their own unique and contextual meanings, and all kinds of ritual ceremonies have their own unique musical traditions. I am from the Cou ethnic group. In the process of learning and investigating the music culture of my country, I often found that the same song is expressed by different singers, which will make a song have different levels of feeling. Based on this experience, I wished to further explore the feasibility of integrating Cou ballads with modern musical elements, and analyze the singing skills and styles of Cou ballads. Through concrete practice for the graduation concert, I tried to compare and integrate Cou ballads and Chinese folk vocal music in the concert to present my learning experience in ethnic vocal music and ethnic group music promotion. This thesis spans five chapters. The first chapter is the introduction, which includes the motivation and purposes, scope and methods, and plan for the concert. The second chapter is the review of references, which includes articles on Cou culture, the development status of Cou ballads, and the development status of Cou ballads of Laiji Tribe. The third chapter, which describes the performance and analysis of the concert, includes the music analysis and interpretation of songs sung in the graduation concert. The fourth chapter is the analysis on the musical form of The Song of Tashan, including three sections: The first introduces the background of The Song of Tashan, the second collects and analyzes data from representative performance teams, and the third describes my expression methods in singing "The Song of Tashan." The fifth chapter presents the research conclusions and suggestions which not only summarize my research, but also provide a reference for the possibility and directions of future research. |
