    摘要:   消防隊的工作基本為救災、救護、預防火災等三大項,其中又以預防火災為最重要,而如何有效宣導防火防災概念,保護民眾生命與財產的安全,降低火災的威脅,是消防教育在推動上不可忽視的重要環節。目前,國中小學校推動校園防災教育、宣導消防知識外,亦在新竹市、台南市、桃園市、台北市等地設有消防博物館,展現關於消防發展之古代消防文物及歷史,藉以推廣有關各項防火防災之知識。  本研究擬探究主題式的專門博物館如何發揮社會教育功能,並以英國與消防主題相關之大曼徹斯特區的火場博物館(Fireground)、埃賽克斯郡的消防博物館(Essex Fire Museum)、雪菲爾德郡的國家緊急服務博物館(National Emergency Services Museum)以及肯特郡之消防博物館(Firefighting Museum)做為參考對象。選擇英國的原因主要有二:首先,英國本身博物館產業享譽國際,其博物館研究在國際上也相對享有盛名;其次,在1666年倫敦大火後,英國非常重視消防工作,視消防為日常行為最重要之事,英國人普遍具有較強的消防意識,而現代消防體制亦始自18世紀的英國。承此,本論文希望研究英國與消防主題相關之博物館的館藏展設、經營治理模式和整體行銷策略,從中汲取成功之發展經驗,提供我國消防博物館主管單位參考。
      The work of the fire brigade is basically three major items, which includes disaster relief, giving first aid, and fire prevention. Among them, fire prevention is the most important one. Fires are damaging to property and cause injury or death. The most effective way to prevent these dire outcomes is to promote fire safety education to people of all ages and abilities and provide proper training on how to respond in the case of an emergency. Aside from promoting campus education of disaster prevention and disseminate knowledge of firefighting in junior high and elementary schools, there are four public fire museums in Hsinchu, Tainan, Taoyuan and Taipei City, which display ancient fire-fighting relics and history about the development of firefighting for the promotion of variety of knowledge about fire prevention and disaster prevention.   This research intends to explore how thematic and specialized museums exert function of social education, and take four famous British fire museums as case-studies, which include the Fireground in Greater Manchester, Essex Fire Museum in Essex, Sheffield’s National Emergency Services Museum, and Firefighting Museum in Kent. The main reasons for choosing those fire museums as case-studies are: first of all, the UK is famous for her museum industry and the British museum research is also prestigious. Secondly, after the serious fire of London in 1666, the UK made great significance to the work of firefighting and regarded fire protection as the most crucial thing in daily behavior. The fire museums chosen not only provides the history of fire service and interesting stories about firefighting, but offers educational visits for pupils and students and therefore, play an important role in promoting fire safety education. By examining the collections of exhibitions, business management model and overall marketing strategies of the four British fire museums, this thesis wishes to draw useful insights and provide policy recommendations for authorities responsible for the running of the fire museums in Taiwan.
