    Abstract: 《廬山遠公話》之故事內容，主要是描寫東晉名僧釋慧遠學佛修道的歷程，惟故事乃從民間文學之角度下手，大改史實，刻意將歷史上的慧遠與道安兩人角色對換，一時慧遠成了道安的長輩，成了《涅槃經》的疏抄者，而「臂有肉環」也成了慧遠的特徵，當中更添加了慧遠被擄為奴、賣身為僕的情節，以及對道安形象之貶抑，完全顛覆了佛教史傳之實載，此種書寫手法正突顯其民間文學之創作特質。
