Abstract:	潮劇乃廣東省地方戲曲劇種之一，以潮州方言演唱，又名潮州戲、潮音戲或潮州白字戲。潮州戲主要分為兩種，一是用潮語說唱的戲，原名潮音戲，又名潮州白字戲，屬於源自宋明南戲系統的劇種；另一種是潮州人以皮黃合奏的戲，統稱外江戲，是漢劇的一系。在距今四百多年前的明朝已有潮劇出現，當時被稱為「潮調」或「潮腔」，是從宋、元南戲衍變出來。在發展並成形的過程中，潮劇不斷吸收當地的民間藝術和民間音樂，如歌冊、關戲童、秧歌、紙影、木偶、紗燈、舞獅及佛曲等元素，其唱腔是一種集聯曲體和板腔體的綜合體式，并有一唱眾和的幫腔、幫聲等合唱特色。
