摘要: | 「地獄不空,誓不成佛」,這是一般信眾對於地藏王菩薩的基本認識。《地藏十輪經》中有載,地藏具有無量數不可思議功德,為一切世間聲聞、獨覺所不能測。在《本願經》中亦說地藏菩薩已證得十地果位,但因悲憫六道眾生,為教化有情,仍然在聲聞、辟支佛地而不願成佛。此外,《本願經》亦記載有關於地藏菩薩入地獄救母的故事,自此流傳地藏菩薩經常現身地獄救渡眾生的故事,因而被世人稱為「幽冥教主」。由於有著盡孝道與誓度眾生的形象,使得地藏信仰成為中國佛教各宗派中重要的一支,地藏菩薩也成為中國佛教四大菩薩之一。目前臺灣地區以地藏菩薩為主祀的寺廟雖然不多,但早在康熙36年(1697),諸羅地區(今嘉義)便已建立起第1座主祀地藏菩薩的地藏庵,開始地藏信仰的流傳。加上當時的地藏庵負起為客死異鄉的移民進行殯葬儀式與暫置棺槨的社會責任,讓地藏信仰的流傳更為廣泛。本文擬就地藏信仰在臺灣流傳的緣起、發展與影響進行討論,俾使一般信眾能更加了解地藏信仰在臺灣的演變狀況與傳承。 “I swear not to be Buddha unless the Hell is empty”. This is the basic understanding of “Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva” among general believers. It is written in“Ten Cakras of Ksitigarbha” that Ksitigarbha has uncountable mystic pious deeds, which are immeasurable by all the sravaka & solitary realizer in this world. It is also said in “The Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva Sutra” that Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva has already proved to get ten stages of realization, but only being pitiful for all living creatures and in order to educate to love, he still stays at pratyekabuddha stage rather than becoming Buddha. Besides, the story of Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva going to the hell in order to save his mother is also recorded in “The Ksitigarbha Bodttvhisaa Sutra”. Since this, stories of Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva appears in the hell to rescue all living creatures are spread out and whom, is called “Darkness Leader”. Since Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva has the image of fulfilling filial piety and savior, the Dizang Faith has become important clique among the Chinese Buddism clans and makes him one of the four Bodhisattvas in Chinese Buddism.Currently in Taiwan, though there aren’t many temples worshiping Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva as the main god, but early back to the 36th year of Kangxi (1697), people in Zhuluo County (today’s Chiayi) already built up the first Dizang Abbey (地藏庵), which inside the temple Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva is the main god worshipped, and the Dizang Faith was spread out. Furthermore, the Dizang Abbey (地藏庵) also took care of the immigrants who died in foreign land, which includes the social responsibilities of holding funeral ceremonies and temporary keeping coffins. And it has popularized the Dizang Faith. This essay is going to discuss the beginning, development and influence of the Dizang Faith spread in Taiwan, so that the general believers can understand the development and legacy of Dizang Faith in Taiwan. |
