The purpose of this research is to study the resentment experiences of 3 solitary elderly residents. This research uses the perspectives of Chinese Indigenized Psychology, Max Scheler emotional phenomenology and human development theories. The hermeneutic-phenomenological method is used as guideline for this study. The text is provided by in-depth interviews, and followed by the thematic analysis of the life experience descriptions and fusion of horizons, to reveal the essences and hidden meanings of resentment experiences of the research participants. The themes of resentment experiences of solitary elderly residents in this research include: denature and loose connection of the family relationship, children's accident death, discrimination due to being-dependent, transformation of ego, suffering from being alone, solitude resulted from longing for love of family, and negative adaptation. Loneliness, as a whole, is their situation in common. However, they accept their fate without complaints, and learn to be resilient and independent to embrace their new life on their own ways, and live to fulfill their new destiny. While the problems of solitary elderly residents are growing worse, this research tries to draw public attention for elders' mental and spiritual problem and gives some suggestions for elderly care. Further, this research can be used as reference for planning of elderly welfare for relevant authorities, to improve quality and content of elderly care.
