On July 8, 2022, the former Prime Minister of Japan, Shinzo Abe, was assassinated and killed during an election campaign, causing shock from all walks of life. Abe served as the prime minister of Japan twice, but his actions during his tenure have caused many controversies in Japan. From the assassination to the holding of the state funeral, there have been debates between pros and cons. However, Taiwan, which is not part of Japan, has praised Abe, thinking that Abe is the Japanese prime minister who supports Taiwan the most, and even lowered the flag at half-staff for Abe's death. In this regard, this article believes that from the evaluation of Abe's death, it can be seen that there is a special plot in Taiwan society towards Japan. The submissive pro-Japanese attitude reflects the differences in ethnic identity after Taiwan experienced Japanese colonization and political power shaping. This article will verify this through an online questionnaire survey.
